About these coloring pages

Every gingerbread house coloring page in this set is a candy-covered cottage: frosted rooftops, gumdrop paths, peppermint wheels, candy cane posts, lollipop trees and icing snow dripping from the eaves. Some pages show a single house, others a whole gingerbread village.

Houses with big walls and simple roof shapes work for preschool and kindergarten, while villages full of tiny candies suit older kids. Before building a real gingerbread house, kids can color the design first and decide which candies go where. They can also draw extra candy decorations of their own before they start coloring. Decorated gingerbread houses became popular in Germany in the 1800s, around the time the Brothers Grimm published "Hansel and Gretel," a story that makes a fun read-aloud alongside these December pages.

Every page prints on US Letter or A4 paper and is free for home and classroom use.
